Wallpaper for September 2012 – Barcelona, Spain

The September 2012 desktop wallpaper is now available for download in the top three most popular screen resolution sizes and proportions.  Please select the one closest to your screen size and proportions for the best fit (for 1280×800 use the 1440×900 one and for 1366×768 use the 2560×900 – they are the same proportions, your computer will scale them down for you). On a PC, right click and then “save target as..”, on Mac just Click to open the image, then right click and choose “save as desktop image”. If it’s not quite the right shape or size you may have to choose “stretch to fit”.  If it doesn’t look quite right you may have to chose another size that’s closer to the proportions of your screen.

This month’s wallpaper image comes from Spain once again, this time Barcelona.  This light fixture can be found inside the Casa Batlló, one of the houses designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi.  Finished in 1906 it is an amazing structure, with hardly any straight lines in the entire house.  This is the ceiling of what I guess would be a sitting room or living room.  It is meant to represent the sweeping lines of the ocean and sand on the beach – I think it does so extremely well.

The man was quite a genius, using engineering advances he created buildings far ahead of their time.  Things like indoor plumbing, elevators and air conditioning – at the turn of the 1900’s can you imagine?

If you go to Barcelona, plan a visit to at least one or two Gaudi houses, including this one.  Allow yourself time to wander through and see all the details, they are quite amazing.  Each being a one of a kind unique structure.
