Poetry inspired by Darlene’s Peruvian images

Poetry written to accompany a few of the photographs I took while in Peru. A collaboration of sorts. These are the first two poems.

Story of my journey to Peru 2007

Saint Augustine said “The world is a book. Those that do not travel read only one page.” After 3 weeks in Peru I think I read a whole chapter and it makes me want to read more. Our private womans tour group began in Lima, then visited Cusco, the Sacred Valley and machu picchu. Our group brought supplies for a childrens charity and we hiked up into the mountains to bring them new shoes and prepare hot chocolate for them.

Visions of Peru 2008 Calendar

After spending nearly 4 weeks in Peru as part of the womans tour group Red Lotus Tours, I fell in love with this magical, spiritual place rich in the history of the Inca’s. My brief glimpse into the lives of the people of Peru, from the children in the streets to the oldest woman woman in the sacred valley along with all the color and contrast have been put into what I’m calling Visions of Peru 2008 Calendar
